Calling All Artists to East Wing Nine

Do you want to see your work on walls previously graced by the likes of Grayson Perry, Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin, Anthony Gormley, Sam Taylor Wood, Gilbert & George and Mark Wallinger? Yes you do! So read on...
Who’s Jack have teamed up with East Wing Nine at The Courtauld Institute of Art on their new show ‘Exhibitionism’ due to open January 23rd 2010.
They’re offering all artists the truly exciting opportunity to submit work for a contemporary re-imagining of an Academy Hang as part of the exhibition. Should your work be accepted, it will be displayed at Somerset House for an eighteen month period.
To enter:
• You will need to submit a good quality photographic image of your work with your name, email and picture dimensions enclosed. (You may submit more than one work).
• You must be willing to loan the work for a whole 18 months.
• All works must be flat
• We only ask that accepted artists cover the cost of framing themselves, in a metallic frame (we recommend IKEA’s RIBBA frames), including picture plates (to fasten the frames to the wall - they are usually just over a pound for two).
All entries must be emailed to academyhang@googlemail.com no later than November 16th.
If you’re not an artist but would like to support ‘Exhibitionism’ please contact tiernan.morgan@courtauld.ac.uk for funding or sponsorship opportunities.
To be added to the mailing list for all future news and events email your name to eastwingnine@googlemail.com.
Good luck!

It’s been a month of parties, Ikea trips and taxis.
Suddenly, from nowhere, invites have come in by the dozen and we might have accepted a few too many for our own good. Either way, the fact that spirits are
lifting, new brands and bars are launching and people are spending a bit of money again can only be good news. All of the above means we are gearing up for a great November and Christmas.
This issue focuses pretty heavily on knitwear, we know, but lets face it, it’s now cold and what better way to take the edge off a chilly wind than a statement knit? Seeing as we couldn’t write a whole issue about wool we also have our choice of bonfire nights, a look at the economy, discussions as to whether it’s time for puffa jackets to come back and tips on how to spend a week without spending. Get to our blog and let us know your thoughts and as always, if you want us to cover something that’s not already in our pages let us know! Finally, don’t forget to check out www.thisisjack.tv, currently showcasing Marco and his friends and their cooking talents along with upcoming programs including James chatting to Stricken City and Leila testing out her puffa jacket theories. Happy November!
